Holding on to Summer

November 1st has come and it seems as though Nova Scotia is still holding on to summer. The weather has been beautiful; everything from paddling, running, and eating dinner on a patio has been thoroughly enjoyable. Usually by this point in the year, I'm eagerly awaiting the end of the paddling season to begin new training routines. I find it's always nice to change up my schedule and work my body in different ways. This Fall has been different though, and I'm finding myself loving every single practice and day. We have a new group training together in Halifax with our new coach and it has been really exciting and motivating having everyone together. Everything is lining up in terms of on-water training, strength training, mental performance, and nutrition. We have a great team and I can really feel the support behind myself and the other athletes.

Next week I will be heading home to Oakville, ON. for a little mental reset to see loved ones and to reconnect with my coach at Burloak Canoe Club. Being able to call Burloak home base and always having a watchful eye from my coaches is something I'm truly lucky to have. It is nice to get feedback from a number of different coaches, and it usually helps me to understand something related to the sport in a new way.

A couple weeks ago I had the pleasure of working with Jack Leahy to take some pictures of me paddling. He is a canoer from Senobe-a local canoe club on Lake Banook. I'm really pleased with how they turned out. You can see some of them now, posted on the site.

Anyways, that's all for now, thank you for reading!
